Crew's Family

Early in their dating years, adoption was always a conversation that came up. They both agreed on wanting several children and both felt that adoption would play a role in growing their family at some point. After dating, engagement, a wedding and a 2 year struggle with infertility- their twins were conceived via IVF. This journey made the path towards adoption even more clear. In 2018, they began the process to become licensed foster parents. In 2019, they welcomed a 5 month old little boy who is now their adopted son, Jude. In 2020, they were surprised with the news that Jude's biological brother would be born shortly and would join their family as well. With four littles ages 6-2, their hands definitely felt full most days but their hearts were still missing that final piece.

Since childhood, Lisa has had a special bond with several individuals with Down syndrome. When meeting Matt, their first conversation included the face that he has a cousin with Down syndrome. They both knew that if they were going to add another child to their home, they wanted them to have a little something "extra".

They joined the NDSAN in May 2022 and prayed over several situations they were presented. Each time a door closed, they reminded themselves that God had the perfect plan in place. In January 2023, they learned of a precious 1 week old baby boy who was waiting for a forever family. Over the next few weeks, they spend time building a relationship with the birth family who loved him dearly and giving them the time and space to make their decision. Just 24 hours after they officially asked Matt and Lisa to be his forever family, they were on a plane to Vegas to meet their son.

Little Crew has been the biggest blessing! He is loved by so many and we couldn't be more grateful for his life.

February 2024

It’s hard to believe that Crew is ONE! He is an absolute joy to our family and everyone he meets. In the last year he has overcome several health scares, adding lots of new specialists to his care team. Currently he is healthy, strong and thriving! He is a little mover and inch worms himself all over the place. He also just learned how to pull to stand and loves being upright to see the world from a new angle. We love every inch of this sweet boy and are so proud of him everyday!
