Azariah's Family

We are the Kosloski family and we began our adoption journey 6 years ago.  We originally planned to adopt a child with Down syndrome internationally and were progressing toward that goal when we got to 2020 and travel shut down.  We kept hoping for travel to open up again, but years passed and we continued to try to discern where the Lord was calling us.

About a year ago, we decided to get a domestic home study and we put a family profile on the National Down Syndrome Adoption Network.  Our profile was sent to many families, but we were never chosen.  After a year on the NDSAN, we decided we needed to finally consider ending our adoption journey.  We had planned to do so in March if nothing happened before then.  But in January, we were sent information on Azariah's situation.  We immediately felt a lot of peace about pursuing his situation, more than any other situation we had come across previously.  We were not surprised, then, when the birth parents wanted to meet with us and one other family.  We met with them and the meeting went well, but then the birth parents chose the other family.  We were heartbroken, as we had felt sure Azariah was meant to be our child.  About a week and a half later, we were told that the other family had changed their minds and that the birth family now wanted us to adopt Azariah.

We packed up our five kids and started off on the 15 hour drive south!  We received placement of Azariah on January 24th and we instantly fell in love with him.  He is the most wonderful baby in the world!  We give him hundreds of kisses a day and he gives us hundreds of smiles and cuddles.  He has been with us a month and we can't imagine life without him.  We are so grateful to GLADS and all the other organizations who provided us with grants to make Azariah's adoption possible!
