Jasper's Family

March 27, 2022

Our story starts back in 2019 with the adoption of our first son, we were called to special needs adoption, and Down syndrome was always on our hearts and minds. We matched with our first son in July of 2019 on the National Down Syndrome Adoption Network’s (NDSAN) registry. As a family grown through adoption, we had no doubts about how next adoption would look and joined the NDSAN registry again 2 years later in July of 2021. We were on the NDSAN registry for about 5 months before we ran across an agency in a neighboring state that had been advertising their services online, we could not shake the feeling that we needed to contact them and find out more about who they were as an agency. We made the call on January 4 th of 2022, we were greeted on the telephone by a lady with a kind voice. She share a bunch of information with us and then wanted to know a little bit about us. When we shared with her our past adoption experience and our hopes for our next adoption she was breath taken because earlier that same morning a birth mother had spoken on the phone with her stating that she was looking to place her one month old son for adoption who had been diagnosed with Down syndrome. We were matched almost instantly with this precious baby boy and things just started falling into place like they were meant to. Our sweet little “J” spent the first 64 days of his new little life in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, 20 days of which we got to be there with him and advocate for him and his needs. Our adoption story is truly a work of God, we were guided by The Holy Spirit to our newest addition. The signs were strong that baby “J” was meant to join us all along!

We are so thankful for GLADS for providing families like us assistance via adoption grants and support! Adoption is expensive as it is, let alone having to take off work and stay in hotels for days, weeks, or months while your new little baby fights to graduate from their stay in the NICU. We are so grateful to be a part of the GLADS family once again!

Jasper is our wild child.  He started walking 4 months ago and is always on the run.  He is a little chatter bug always talking to everyone and everything.  Jasper has a smile that runs for miles.  He is always laughing and making us laugh right along with him.  The DS clinic is very impressed with how good he is progressing with milestones.

He got a good bill of health from our yearly visit with the Down syndrome clinic. They were very impressed with how well he is growing.  We are so grateful to be a part of the GLADS Family.
